Dave @ Accidental FIRE

I reached financial independence and semi-retired in my mid-40's through hard work, smart living, and investing. This blog chronicles my journey and explores many aspects of personal finance including the psychological and behavioral factors that drive our habits.

Shocking stats; people should really spend less and save more.
    All the best Dave.

  2. Abeckman says:

Accidental FIRE is the only FI blog I keep reading regularly. Thanks for shaking up the weekend routine.

I still enjoy reading your posts – please keep on keepin’ on!
    Cheers

Oh shit, I failed the quiz 🤣
Guess I’m too busy riding my bike and enjoying life!!

Oh, I’m financially independent sooo 🤷‍♂️
Also, I’m old school and even if blogs aren’t hip with the whippersnappers, I love reading them, please keep up the good work!

    • Dave @ Accidental FIRE says:

Better to keep riding and not know these statistics, I’m a numbers geek so I do both but always choose riding first! Thanks Matt!

  5. Tremell says:

This was fun. I’m still a loyal reader of this blog! Thank you.

  6. Oldie says:

    Good fun stuff!

  7. I got zero out of five, but I was close on almost all of them. It’s a really hard quiz – not too many people follow the exact census numbers.

    • Dave @ Accidental FIRE says:

Yes these are hard if you’re not a stats dork like me. I probably should make the non-correct answer choices a bit further away from the correct ones to make things easier as I think many folks have an idea of what general zone the right answers are. Thanks for playin though!

  8. The Crusher says:

I appreciate all of your efforts Dave.

Not the easiest of quizzes but I am semi-proud to get 3/5 correct.

I have always enjoyed your blog and love your t-shirt.

  9. Jeff says:

Thanks for continuing to put out new content despite your declining readership. Have you given any thought to de-monetizing the site to see if that helps slow the loss? The ads on your blog aren’t quite enough to deter me from reading, but I would rate them as moderately annoying.

    • Dave @ Accidental FIRE says:

I appreciate the suggestion Jeff but since my audience has been shrinking my goal has been to at least cover my web hosting costs so I’m not in the red for a waning effort. And I mean no offense at all by this but I’m astonished at those who still view ads on the web. I run ad blockers and have for at least 15 years now, they work really well. I encourage folks to block the ads on my website, there’s no need to see them here or anywhere. Everyone should just block ads 🙂

    Dave,

I have always enjoyed your posts over the years. Ever since I retired last year at 55 yo, I find myself less inclined to check out financial blogs since I have achieved FI and retirement. I find myself more focusing on my health and fitness with proper diet, exercises, and sport activities. I am very active and want to stay that way. I have achieved everything I need for financial purposes and maintaining the FI, but now I am trying to slowdown Father Time…Ha ha.

I hope you are continuing to enjoy your retirement!

    • Dave @ Accidental FIRE says:

You’ve been a longtime reader and I appreciate it – also stoked that you too are focusing on health in your 50’s like me. We’re not old, we’re just experienced and still perfectly capable of tearing it up in the field, in the gym, or wherever (for me on a bike). Let’s kick Father Time’s ass while we enjoy our FI status!

  11. HA ! I failed miserably as I don’t follow stats lol …. only one correct

    • Dave @ Accidental FIRE says:

Well you’re also not an American and these questions were about us, you probably know the Canuck data better

  12. LC says:

0 out of 5 haha! But I still check in regularly and appreciate the content you continue to post (:

  13. Pete says:

“You got ONE right, I mean… really?”
Yes, really. 🙂 Knowing household income is my jam apparently?

  14. veronica says:

I got zero so apparently I suck. But hey, it’s not my country so why should I know your stats? That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!

I enjoy your blog very much and rue the day you shut it down.

    • Dave @ Accidental FIRE says:

Your excuse is accepted! As a very longtime reader and frequent commenter I’m still passing you, thanks so much Veronica!
