All FIRE’D Up!
Are you ready folks?
I was running the other day and this song came blaring out of my headphones. Crank it up while you’re reading and just rawk!!
I had a crush on Pat Benatar when I was young. I owned Crimes Of Passion on LP, and still do. I used to spend considerable time staring at the cover.
I mean, c’mon, can you blame me?
As I ran to the song, it hit me that she was writing about the FIRE movement, way back in 1988!
Livin’ with my eyes closed, goin’ day to day
I never knew the difference, I never cared either way
Lookin’ for a reason, searchin’ for a sign
Reachin’ out with both hands, I gotta feel the kick inside
All fired up (now I believe there comes a time)
All fired up (when everything just falls in line)
All fired up (we live an’ learn from our mistakes)
All FIRE’D up, FIRE’D up, FIRE’D up!
You lived and learned from your money mistakes – I did too! Now we’re FIRE’D up to go to FINCON!
And holy smokes the mullets in that video! Epic!!
It goes on:
Ain’t nobody livin’, in a perfect world
Everybody’s out there, cryin’ to be heard
Now I got a new FIRE, burnin’ in my eyes
Lightin’ up the darkness, movin’ like a meteorite
Bring it!
I’m really psyched for FINCON and just though I’d pass some of the psyche along, like Mrs. Benatar did to me on my run. I can’t wait to meet some of the awesome bloggers, podcasters, and members of this great community.
So let’s get our lighters in hand, the hairspray out, and get FIRE’D up.
have fun at the fin-con. pat was really something for a teenage boy in the 80’s. i’ll second that motion. did you ever have one of those mullets? i sure as heck did. i thought i looked like andre agassi without any tennis abilities.
no mullet, i’m almost shamed to say. my hair was so thick every time I tried to let it grow long in the back it would curl back on itself. i would have been a horrible hair-metalist.
Agassi had one of the best of the era… stunning
Another throwback to a great period in music with the 80’s. I was a big fan of The Cure, Depeche Mode, U2. I think my crush back then was Heather Locklear who still looks amazing to this day.
Have fun in Fin Con that is something on my bucket list for sure, hopefully can do it next year.
Pretty sure I had a poster of Mrs. Locklear on my bedroom wall. Really wish you were coming Doc but hopefully we can meet at another event!
Have a blast at FinCon. Thanks for the 80s flashback – Pat Benatar, mullets and rat tails.
Ah the rat tail… pretty sure they still live on
I’m also FIREed up for FinCon and looking forward to meeting you there. I’ve been wondering, how does an anonymous blogger like you handle the namebadge? Are you going to be Fye Maximus? How about Alex Honnold?
Can’t wait to meet you Susan! The FINCON folks let you put whatever on your badge or so I’m told, but folks “in the know” might actually leave FINCON with a name for me. Inquiring minds wanna know!!!
I can’t wait either. i think we are going to have a great time.
See you in Orlando!
Have so much fun at fincon!! Definitely feeling some serious FOMO right now 🙂
Sucks that you can’t make it but you should just go camping, it’s a lot cheaper!
Sorry I won’t be there to meet you. 🙁 I love this song though and and have it on my playlist and love when it comes up when I’m running.
Darn, was hoping you’d be coming. You have some settling to do in Boise though, so priorities!
Rub it in, rub it in. Have a great time at FinCon!
I’m a decade earlier in musical tastes. I had a poster of David Cassidy on my bedroom wall.
Ha – David Cassidy, I remember those days!
New to me, song! 🙂 Thank you so much! Agree! 😉
Hair metal forever!
